BHA (Butylated Hydroxyanisole) is a synthetic antioxidant with CAS No. 25013-16-5. It is widely used in the feed industry, offering strong antioxidant protection for animal fats and also exhibiting certain antibacterial properties.
This product appears as a white to pale yellowish crystalline powder or waxy solid. BHA functions by donating hydrogen atoms to prevent free radical formation, thereby inhibiting oxidative rancidity. Compared to BHT, BHA demonstrates superior antioxidant performance, and the combination of both exhibits significant synergistic effects. BHA also possesses strong antibacterial activity, with studies showing that 200 mg/kg of BHA can completely inhibit aflatoxin production.
