L-Isoleucine Feed Grade

L-Isoleucine is an essential branched-chain amino acid that has significance in animal nutrition. It is widely recognized as a crucial nutrient for livestock and poultry, playing a vital role in protein synthesis, energy metabolism, and immune function .

Specifically, L-isoleucine helps maintain glucose homeostasis and regulates protein and lipid synthesis and catabolism . In pigs, dietary isoleucine supplementation has been shown to promote growth performance, improve intestinal morphology and structure, and enhance immunity by promoting immune cell proliferation and increasing the expression of host defense peptides . In broilers, studies have shown that appropriate isoleucine supplementation can improve final body weight, average daily weight gain, feed conversion rate, survival rate, and breast muscle rate, while reducing abdominal fat .

Research has also highlighted the importance of isoleucine in dairy cows, where it has been shown to support milk protein and fat production through its signaling roles in mammary epithelial cells . For ruminants, supplemental isoleucine requires protection against ruminal degradation to be as efficacious as in non-ruminant species .
