Chlortetracycline is a broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic produced by fermentation of Streptomyces aureofaciens. It belongs to the tetracycline class of antibiotics and plays a crucial role in controlling bacterial infections and promoting growth in livestock and poultry.

This product is designed to be incorporated into animal feed at specific ratios. Chlortetracycline works by binding to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, inhibiting peptide chain elongation and blocking bacterial protein synthesis. It exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria (including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Clostridium perfringens) and Gram-negative bacteria (including Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Pasteurella). It is also effective against Mycoplasma, Rickettsia, Chlamydia, and certain spirochetes.

In veterinary practice, chlortetracycline is commonly used for the prevention and treatment of respiratory and enteric infections. In swine, it is indicated for the control of bacterial enteritis, pneumonia, and proliferative enteropathy (ileitis). In poultry, it is used for the control of chronic respiratory disease (CRD), infectious synovitis, and reduction of mortality due to E. coli infections. Chlortetracycline is also approved for use in cattle, sheep, turkeys, and ducks for various bacterial infections.

Chlortetracycline is available in various specifications to meet different application needs, including premix forms (15%, 20%, and other concentrations) and water-soluble powder forms. Withdrawal periods vary by species and dosage, typically ranging from 0 to 7 days depending on the specific product formulation and intended use.
