Tributyrin is a specialized feed additive formulated with tributyrin as its key active ingredient. It is a triglyceride composed of one glycerol molecule esterified with three butyric acid molecules, serving as a stable and controlled-release precursor of butyric acid. This compound plays a crucial role in promoting intestinal health, enhancing immune function, and improving growth performance in livestock and poultry.

This product is designed to be incorporated into animal feed at specific ratios, ensuring that livestock and poultry receive the appropriate dosage of tributyrin. Unlike free butyric acid, tributyrin is not decomposed in gastric juice but is slowly released as butyric acid under the action of intestinal lipase. The released butyric acid serves as the primary energy source for intestinal epithelial cells, stimulates cell proliferation, increases intestinal villus height, and promotes nutrient absorption. It also effectively repairs intestinal mucosal damage, inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria, promotes the proliferation of beneficial bacteria, and reduces animal diarrhea. Studies have shown that tributyrin is three times more effective than sodium butyrate, making it a highly cost-effective alternative to antibiotic growth promoters.
