TBHQ (Tertiary Butylhydroquinone) is a highly effective synthetic antioxidant widely used in the oils and fats industry as well as in feed applications. It exhibits exceptional performance in preventing oxidative rancidity, particularly under high-temperature processing and storage conditions.
This product appears as a white to light yellow crystalline powder. TBHQ functions by scavenging free radicals and interrupting the oxidative chain reaction, protecting fats, oils, and nutrients in feed from oxidative deterioration. Studies have shown that the addition of 0.01% TBHQ significantly reduces feed peroxide values, with experimental groups showing only 39% of the peroxide value of the control group under 37°C storage conditions, demonstrating its strong antioxidant effect. TBHQ outperforms BHT and ethoxyquin in antioxidant efficacy and is a commonly used antioxidant in the feed and oil industries.
