Grape Seed Extract Feed Grade

Grape Seed Extract is a natural feed additive derived from grape seeds, with proanthocyanidins as its primary active components. It is often associated with the field of feed additives and is widely recognized for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties in livestock and poultry.

Specifically, grape seed extract contains a variety of polyphenolic compounds, including proanthocyanidins, catechins, gallic acid, and epicatechin. Its antioxidant capacity has been reported to be 20 times greater than that of vitamin E and 50 times greater than that of vitamin C. Studies have shown that GSE supplementation significantly improves growth performance, enhances nutrient digestibility, and boosts immunity in livestock. In weaned lambs, supplementation with 0.6 g/d GSE significantly increased average daily gain, improved rumen fermentation, and enhanced crude protein and fiber digestibility. In broilers, 100 mg/kg GSE improved growth performance, enhanced liver antioxidant enzyme activity through activation of the Keap1-Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway, and alleviated oxidative stress. In dairy cows, dietary GSE supplementation (15 g/d per cow) increased milk yield and feed efficiency, while reducing milk somatic cell count and improving energy metabolism during the transition period.

Research has demonstrated that GSE supplementation increases serum immunoglobulin G levels and total antioxidant capacity, while decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokines and malondialdehyde levels. Additionally, GSE promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria such as Lactobacillus and inhibits pathogenic bacteria including Escherichia coli and Salmonella in the digestive tract. Grape seed extract has been approved by the European Union as an additive for use in both human food and animal feed.
